Sexual Assault Awareness Week
The UofA sexual assault centre hosts two awareness weeks each academic year.
The University of Alberta Sexual Assault Centre (as part of University Wellness Services) is hosting its semi-annual Sexual Assault Awareness Week from February 6-10, 2012. The purpose of this week is to raise awareness about the Sexual Assault Centre and the issue of sexual violence and its impact on our campus community.
In conjunction with Sexual Assault Awareness Week, the centre would like to take this opportunity to remind you of the services that the Sexual Assault Centre provides. It is available to all University of Alberta students and staff who have been impacted either directly or indirectly by sexual assault, sexual harassment, stalking and/or intimate partner violence. The Sexual Assault Centre provides free, confidential and anonymous counselling and support services, options and information, accompaniment to hospital/police/court, referrals and advocacy.
In addition to their support services, they also offer education workshops for classes, faculty and student groups which explore the prevalence and nature of sexual assault, deconstruct myths and provide basic support skills for receiving a disclosure of sexual assault.
